Title: The Protecting Veil
Media: Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 48"x48"
Finish Date: March, 2006
Commentary:

This began as a minimalist expression of emergent form. I like form, particularly geometric form, that has implied and lost and found edges. For a while, it lived with marks of a single colour. Eventually, I warmed up some areas to increase the spatial depth.

This piece extends the spatial studies of earlier work although this was not my conscious intent. It is perhaps more of a prototype of a direction I have not yet explored.

Mary preferred it before I warmed it up. The tighter chromatic range of the earlier expression may indeed have been a better painting.
