Title: Chromatic Space No. 03
Media: Acrylic, interference film on canvas
Dimensions: 48"x36"
Finish Date: November, 2006
Commentary:

I intended, in this piece, to replace the interference film of  Chromatic Space No. 01 with a textural passage at the bottom in the complementary colour. I got carried away in applying it and made the passage too large - essentially edge to edge. I prevaricated while it started to dry. When I decided I couldn't live with it, only part could be removed. The attempt triggered a cascade of modifications, problems and resolutions. This is the result.

This work was very much a case of having to commit to the game. The trade off for the luminosity and integrity of the transparent layers is the inability to modify anything unobtrusively.

This work undergoes wonderful and surprising transformations as the ambient light changes. It is arguably, an abstract landscape.
