Dimensions: 48"x36"
Finish Date: October, 2006
Commentary:

I have been working on an article for the Leonardo journal. As a result, I realized I have not been as disciplined in exploring the kinechromatic properties of the materials I have been using, as I might have been.

I am beginning this series using a very minimal expression of content. The interference band might be considered to be an element of content due to its hard edge. On the other hand, its connection to both edges and its dynamic visual property of being able to completely disappear under the right conditions might argue for consideration as a modulation of the chromatic space the rest of the picture presents.

I have begun reading some of the writings of Joseph Drapell and Ken Moffett of the New New Painting movement. As a result, I would have to say this work in particular, is quintessential colour field work, and my interest in space can be reduced on one level to the properties of the colour field.
